About Us

Owned and operated by Terry and Sue Betts along with their children Melissa and Tyler, Pebblestone Farms is a family run stable offering extraordinary care.

Pebblestone Farms offers a private, warm and comfortable atmosphere for both you and your horse.

Come join the Pebblestone family!

The Betts Family

Terry Betts

Terry is a respected trainer whose philosopy that happy horses make for happy people sets the tone for the entire Pebblestone experience. He teaches, trains and runs Penning clinics that are designed to give both horse and human a newfound respect for each other.

When not on his horse or Harley, you will find Terry racing at Kawartha
Speedway in his Limited Late Model #86 sponsored by Stonehenge Golf Club and Pingles Farm Market

Sue Betts

Sue wears many hats, and they all fit her beautifully. She is a sought after team member for team cattle penning, has the biggest smile in the barn and along with Terry, enjoys providing a place where boarders can experience 'horse happiness'.

This dynamo is also a full time teacher in Oshawa.

Melissa Betts

Melissa rides like the wind,,,, just like her Mom and Dad, and also has championship buckles to show her ability in team penning.

Melissa just finished her first year of university where she is pursuing a career in teaching. While the Oshawa Ski Club is where she spends her weekends instructing skiing in the winter, Pingles Farm Market is her home away from home where she is involved in all aspects of the business. When she isn't working (which isn't very often),
she can be found riding her horse and being a great racecar fan.

Tyler Betts

Tyler is an integral part of the smooth running of the farm.  From operating machinery to fixing anything that needs fixing, Tyler can do it all.  No job is too big, too small or too complicated!

Tyler keeps very busy during the winter instructing everyday at the Oshawa Ski Club. His efforts haven't gone unnoticed as he is the proud recipient of the Ski Instructor of the Year award 2007/2008 given out by the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance.

Now that the snow is gone, Tyler's home away from home is Stonehenge Golf Club where he proudly maintains the course. He does take time out on Friday evenings to be the crew chief for his Dad's racecar. Tyler is a man of many talents!

Private Horse Boarding

Whether you want to just trail ride, train or compete, Pebblestone Farms offers all the amenities you require for both you and your horse.

From miles of trails to an indoor and outdoor arena, sand footing, indoor lounge with arena view, tack room, and plenty of parking for vehicles and horse trailers, Pebblestone offers everything the discriminating horse owner could ask for........and more!

Cattle

For those interested in the sport of Team Cattle Penning, Pebblestone maintains a herd of cattle for regular Sunday penning competitions.

The cattle are kept from October through May.

Trails

Pebblestone Farms' location is ideal for the horse owner who loves to trail ride.

Just east is the beautiful Bowmanville Creek, where the provincially owned trails stretch along the creek. With fabulous views and creek crossings, these trails offer hours of riding pleasure.

To the west of the barn are miles of trails running along old railway right of ways.

Boarders often head out in groups, packing a lunch and enjoying a day of nature and friendship.

Barn Life

Wilbur

Wilbur the pot bellied pig is one of the family's pets, and also the barn mascot

He is now 10 years old and still has his daily routines of visiting each paddock.

Dusty

Nine year old Dusty is the Betts' family's Australian Cattle Dog.

Intelligent and sweet, Dusty always ensures the cattle are in their place.

He guards the barn, helps with feeding and loves to watch penning!

With no cattle currently on the farm, Dusty is becoming a keen flyball
competitor. Sue and Dusty train at Superdog Central in Bowmanville

Maverick

Not just another pretty face..... Maverick is a wopping 5 pounds of barn/show Dog.

Don't let his size fool you. Now retired from the dog show circuit, Maverick likes to think of himself as a barn dog. He believes he is as big and brave as his brother Dusty.
